The life we are living is an Orwell creation. There is nothing amidst the Tripolian streets that disagrees with this. We are trapped in our own country, within the streets we help build, between the walls of our own homes. Our freedom to think, ensnared in our souls but our minds will roam free till our last drop of blood.
Girgaresh, last week one of the most popular shopping districts of the Capital is now a ghost town. Not a single vehicle, nor soul to be seen. The wind wanders freely howling outside our homes calling for our fire, but there is nothing to ignite but the fear, that is struck in our hearts.
Freedom is slavery. Our internet connection is the fastest it’s ever been, websites unblocked, phone signals clear but all at a price, SMS messages sent out, telling us all to return to work and schools. Yes- Orwell was right. Freedom IS slavery.
Support is being bought. You know things are bad, when your leader offers you money to send pro-governmental texts out, when you’re offered a free masters degree and 150 dinars a day to wave a green flag. It is surreal.
How can respect be bought, when foreign mercenaries are brought in to kill his own people? Do the money-driven imbeciles truly believe that superficial things will save them? How can one believe that such an eccentric ruler, who’s turned his back on his nation, will not turn his back on the diminutive support he has paid for?
Mosques, the most peaceful buildings, filled with men with rifles, bakeries surrounded by tanks, giving limits to the amount of bread each family can take. Innocent people, hiding in their homes, massacred.
Mizraan street, a bloodbath. Feshloom, destroyed. Tajura, fighting with all their strength.
The bloodshed, the genocide, the losses, will not be for nothing. We will fight, whether we are on the streets protesting, or internally within our homes, we will not lay down our arms. There is no turning back.
This WILL be the end of you.
